 Assistive Technology/Vision Services

Assistive technology is defined as any piece of equipment, or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, or modified, or customized that is used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of a child with a disability.

A yearly screening of assistive technology needs is completed during the annual ARD.

IF AT QUESTIONS INDICATE FURTHER EVALUATION PROCEED TO REFERRAL. 

 The diagnostician and speech pathologist are responsible for the distribution of all forms and will monitor the completion of forms throughout the process.

 

Visually Impaired Services

Goal

  • To provide direct and consultative services to students who have been identified as visually impaired.

Strategy

To allow VI students access to the general education curriculum in the least restrictive environment, through the implementation of successful strategies for instruction by general and special education teachers.
