Brush Country Co-op |

|
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND Brush Country Co-op was founded three decades ago. The initial meeting of the board of managers was held on July 23, 1974 in the Mathis ISD Board Room. The original co-op member districts included Pawnee, Pettus, Three Rivers, George West to the north, Mathis, Odem, Sinton, Skidmore, Taft in the central area of the co-op, and Agua Dulce, Banquete, Orange Grove to the south. (Sinton, Taft and Odem have since formed the San Patricio Special Education Co-op.) The superintendents of the participating school districts act as the board members, and Mathis ISD acts as the fiscal agent for the co-op. The board meets on the third Wednesday of each month in the Mathis ISD Central Office Board Room. Three current Brush Country staff members have been with the co-op from the beginning. Wanda Morrow, Pawnee diagnostician; Sibbie Burroughs, Agua Dulce diagnostician; and Ethel Murphy, recently retired Co-op director/part time consultant. We applaud their loyalty!!!
Now take a look back at some days gone by!
